Creative Arts Contests

The Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo Creative Arts Contests celebrate the creativity, craftsmanship, and talents of participants from across Texas. From homemade recipes and handcrafted quilts to original artwork and photography, these contests highlight the traditions and skills that help preserve our western heritage and community spirit.

Open to both Youth and Adult divisions (depending on the contest), the Creative Arts competitions provide an opportunity for individuals of all ages to showcase their work, compete for awards, and have their entries displayed during the Fair. Each contest is judged by experienced professionals using criteria specific to the category, recognizing creativity, technique, presentation, and overall quality.

Baked & Canned Goods

The Baked & Canned Goods Contest celebrates homemade excellence from kitchens across Texas. Open to both Youth and Adult divisions, all entries must be made from scratch and prepared by the exhibitor.

Baked goods are judged on taste, appearance, and originality, while canned goods are evaluated based on color, consistency, texture, flavor, and proper preservation methods. Recipes must accompany each entry, and all canned goods must meet standard food safety guidelines.

Participants receive one-day admission to the Fair, and entries are judged prior to or during Fair week, depending on category.
